Confirmed on Kubuntu Edgy beta (actually, Ubuntu Edgy Beta + Kubuntu-desktop) after a fresh installation. It's much more convenient to have 9 workspaces on a 3x3 grid than on a 5+4 one! :-( It does retain config, but only after some tries (don't know why...).
