Binary package hint: rhythmbox
PROBLEM:
When creating a playlist in Rythmbox that may be longer than able to burn to a
CD, the application abrubtly advises that the CD cannot be created as the
playlist is to long and halts the process! The application should perhaps :
1. automatically crop the playlist to fit, dropping the tracks at the end of
the list.
2. there should be some indication in the application status bar when
selecting/highlighting tracks, what the total file size/minutes for those
tracks highlighted actually are.
ISSUE:
It is immensely frustrating to find that the Write to CD, simply fails on such
a basic check and does not at least continue to offer a burn of what is
selected. For e.g. Serpintine CD burner advises that the tracks selected are
over and above the capacity of the CD as either 74 mins or 80 mins.
SUGGESTED FEATURE
Also other suggested features:
Ability to convert the songs selected to MP3 or OGG or ACC etc and burn the
playlist in the selected format to disc, bearing in mind the above disc
capacity handling.
- this would be useful in situations such as wanting to burn CD laylists in
MP3 for players that handle MP3 or OGG such as car stereos. Some newer Car
stereos also handle DVD, which means volumes of music can be easily transported
between the house and car via DVD disc. Home stereos also now seem to come with
DVD as standard and ability to play MP3.
Is there any value in perhaps integrating what 'Serpentine' CD creator
does with managing burning to CD, with 'Sound Converter', which converts
sound file types?
