I log in as russel then in a gnome-terminal do "sudo su - bazaarbook" to switch to being user bazaarbook in that terminal. It is not at all surprising that olive-gtk fails, but I think the error message and the seg fault need a wee bit of attention. As it happens the DISPLAY variable is not set, so this may be the root of the problem:
