Have to confirm this on Toshiba A110-178 running Ubuntu 8.04 (2.6.24-19-generic kernel), which I use regularly for heavy-duty long- term calculations. I remember I had been fiddling around a bit with laptop settings some time ago.
Does this also happen in other Linux distributions?
