*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 61234 *** According to posts on http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=1522748 this may be down to the BIOS version of the Dell Latitude D505 (working with A09, not with A10). Though here: https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-i810/+bug/61234 the problem may be partially fixed by using xserver-xorg-video-intel
