Public bug reported:

I had wubi installer install ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy Herron) on my machine.
I downloaded the intrepid alpha alternative disk.
I booted into wubi linux.
It prompted me to update using the intrepid alternative disk.
It updated almost to the end, but then I got an error.
I wish I could remember the exact error.
It told me it would leave my version of linux in an unstable state.
I can no longer boot the wubi-installer version of linux on my machine, I
believe it brings me to init level 1 and I cannot get past that level (I don't
know how to do that).

** Affects: ubuntu
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
