I tried to come up with a way I think this might be solved. No way to tell this is acceptable upstream. As far as I understand things, from acpi_scan_init() the intention is to have the handlers installed. This seems to only make sense after the boot_ec has been set up (which also enables the handlers if successful, otherwise boot_ec might even be freed). So I changed the code so acpi_boot_ec_enable() will only wait until acpi_ec_dsdt_probe() hash finished. While this should work around the problem here, I am not sure whether it helps the problem which was tried to solve with the introduction of acpi_boot_ec_enable(). The new kernel is at the same location as the last one (smb3).
