Update: running the current Usplash & the .3 kernel-----I have at times the red/white & green/white--nothing but black---text only & sometimes a "normal" boot with the splash--sometimes splash with colored text below. Happens without any good reason. This is very hard to reproduce--It is still happening after a fresh install & new /home folder--I retained nothing from my prior Intrepid install & installed to a different drive from the install that I was having the original problems with. The only thing that has gone is the bios warnings.
