I had the same problem running Kubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Alpha1 32 bit on an AMD64 PC.
I set the root password, but adept crashed. In a terminal session, I tried: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo /usr/bin/adept_installer kapture::PkgSystem::PkgSystem() Error: "/var/tmp/kdecache-cb" is owned by uid 1000 instead of uid 0. adduser debconf sysklogd snort-mysql oinkmaster KCrash: Application 'adept_installer' crashing...
