I have similar problem, since upgrading to Hardy I was unable to get my
Acer Aspire 5050 to connect to my Linksys AP using WPA2 Personal. I
could detect wireless networks fine but when I tried to access my AP it
would prompt for the passphrase but then timeout connecting to the
network. When I temporarily turned off wireless security it connected
fine.

The workaround that succeeded for me in the end was in a terminal

apt-get install wpasupplicant

wpa_passphrase [Wireless SSID] [WPA passphrase]

then connected to my AP again and entered the hex psk value returned by
wpa_passphrase rather than entering the passphrase in ASCII. Now I can
connect fine, including after a reboot.

I've attached my syslog in the hope it will help with fixing this, as it
took me a while to get this working!

Thanks

Ross
