At least in my case this seems to be an nvidia bug. I found in the nvidia forums:
http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=114858 I tried their suggested temporary fix: nvidia-settings -a InitialPixmapPlacement=0 -a GlyphCache=1 They say this will be fixed in a future driver release. I tried the nvidia-supplied 177.13 beta driver and the fix wasn't there. Their fix helped a lot. Firefox doesn't freeze anymore. Unfortunately, those nvidia-settings options seem to make compiz segfault, but I can live with that. -- firefox 3.0 very slow on some sites, blocking computer https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/232197 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
