Public bug reported: The Keyboard Layout Option "Shift cancels CapsLock" does indeed make the shift key cancel the locking, but it will not switch off the Caps Lock LED. To reproduce: Set CapsLock Key Behaviour to Default, set "Shift cancels CapsLock". Press keys in this sequence:
<A>a <CapsLock>[LED -> On] <A>A <Shift> <A>a <CapsLock>[LED -> Off] <A>A <Shift> <A>a Sorry, I'm not clear what handles these keys. It is probably an interaction between the X server and some part of Gnome.
