Heya, It looks like something's erroneous with the EDID info provided by your monitor, but I'm not sure what. I've forwarded the bug upstream at https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16739. Could you please subscribe to that bug, so that if upstream needs additional info or has something for you to test you can work with them directly?
It would also be of interest if you could test your computer with a different monitor, and/or try that monitor with a different computer running Ubuntu. (My theory is that the former should work ok, the latter should fail). Also, if possible it would be helpful if you could double check this against Hardy 8.04.1 and/or Intrepid to make sure the problem still exists in the latest code. Despite the difference in behavior between -i810 and -intel, I believe this is a monitor hotplug bug, which is in the xserver, so am reassigning it there. ** Bug watch added: freedesktop.org Bugzilla #16739 https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16739 ** Also affects: xorg-server via https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16739 Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown ** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Sourcepackagename: xserver-xorg-video-intel => xorg-server Status: Confirmed => Triaged -- intel driver wrong frequency at 1600x1200 (i915) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/154945 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
