I can confirm this! While it was possible to specify some mount options depending on the filesystem-type (like iocharset, shortname, etc) for removable media in KDE 3, I have not found any way to acchieve this in KDE 4 (using KDE 4.1 RC1 at the moment). This is quite annoying! Mounting through pmount-hal instead of clicking on the device in the "Devices recently plugged in"-Widget yields the correct mount options...
