Could you look at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DebuggingSystemCrash and try to see if you can do the Alt+SysRq+1 followed by Alt+SysRq+t bit when it stops.
I don't think this is the spec of the machine as it is considerably over the minimum spec for the live CD.
