I'm also not certain this belongs with xkeyboard-config, but until it's
investigated more deeply, that's as good of place as any for it. It
sounds like it is less of a configuration issue and more of a driver
issue (xserver-xorg-input-kbd) but I'm not 100% certain.
Brian, can you please attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log file? Also,
please test against Intrepid to verify it is still happening with the
latest versions of the drivers.
I'm on vacation next week so won't have time to look at it for alpha-3,
so am pushing the milestone back a bit.
