A lot of people seem to lose scrolling functions after this happens. I don't have that happen to me. About 90% of the time, when I start Ubuntu, after I log in (I don't usually move the mouse before I log in, but I can check that) and move the mouse a bit, it happens. However, once it calms down, I don't believe I've ever seen it happen again. And all mouse functions are available. This includes single-finger tap, double finger tap, and triple finger tap; left, middle, and right click respectively; and scrolling. However, I don't have a synaptics touchpad. I have an elantech (ktp) touchpad. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it. Also, the single, double, and triple finger taps are built in (and can't be disabled for lack of linux drivers), I believe, as it works in WinXP too.
