I have an Acer Extensa 4420. I can change the brightness level when on battery with Fn+arrow keys, but then if I leave the system idle a few moments and come back, then start typing, the screen goes to its brightest setting again. These screens are now super bright these days, almost blinding, and so setting brightness and keeping it there is important to me, even when it comes out of idle mode.
