I get the above Error 17 screen whenever I switch on, (unless there is a disk in the CD/DVD drive, which is configured to boot 1st so the Ubuntu CD is now the only way to use the computer) thus blocking access to any partition. I've formatted all the partitions using the Gnome file manager, but Error 17 persists!
