Public bug reported:

I have a quad monitor setup (2 X Sessions, both running twinview.)

When i use the volume control on my keyboard, while on the second X
session. The gnome theme changes, icons aswell.

Yes, this is the weirdest bug report you've ever read, and probably ever
will read. But it's the truth.

I think it's a bug to do with the that volume control overlay window, it
must be something special that messes something up. Also when i press
the shut down button on the second X session, ubuntu just freezes. They
both seem to be the same type of window, so there must be issues with
this type of window that messes things up.

Earlier i spent a while spinning my volume knob watching the ubuntu
theme change back and fourth with mild amusement. Then i got an error
informing me that "There was an error starting the gnome settings
daemon. Some things, such as themes, sounds, or background settings may
not work correctly. The settings daemon restarted too many times. GNOME
will still try to restart the Settings daemon next time you log in"

So, i guess the theory is, Strange overlay type windows (Like the
shutdown dialog, and the volume control logo) crash gnome settings
daemon. However i'm not a coder or an advanced linux user, so i may be
wrong.
