If you move the xorg.conf file to something like xorg.conf.backup so that no xorg.conf file exists, then restart X, that is the same as not having an xorg.conf file. sudo mv /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf.backup then restart X. You can also try reconfiguring X with sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg -phigh then restart X.
