I have to confirm the initial problem also under Xubuntu 8.04 and F-Spot
0.4.3.1.

Started from console, I get:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ f-spot
WARNING: The add-in 'FSpot.__DefaultExporters,1.6' is trying to extend
'/FSpot/Menus/Exports', but there isn't any compatible add-in defining this
extension point
Starting new FSpot server

and that is where it stays.

It created the f-spot directory as follow:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/.gnome2/f-spot$ ls -R
.:
addin-db-001 addins-setup.config photos.db repository-cache

./addin-db-001:
addin-data addin-dir-data fdb-lock fdb-update-lock host-index hosts

./addin-db-001/addin-data:
1

./addin-db-001/addin-data/1:
FSpot.__CDExport,0.4.3.0.maddin FSpot.__FolderExport,0.4.3.0.maddin
FSpot.Core,0.4.3.0.maddin FSpot.__GalleryExport,0.4.3.0.maddin
FSpot.__DefaultExporters,1.6.maddin FSpot.__PicasaWebExport,0.4.3.0.maddin
FSpot.__FlickrExport,0.4.3.1.maddin FSpot.__SmugMugExport,0.4.3.0.maddin

./addin-db-001/addin-dir-data:
usr_lib_f-spot_abddc21d.data usr_lib_f-spot_extensions_a097f746.data

./addin-db-001/hosts:
f-spot.addins

./repository-cache:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/.gnome2/f-spot$

Hope this helps. as I would like to try f-spot.
