Public bug reported: When an installation of Hardy with 2 correctly matching drives holding a raid 1 (mirroring) set is booted with an USB stick connected, some bios will assign to the USB stick a device name like sdb that normally would be assigned to one of the sata drives. In such cases mdadm reproducably generates a segfault with the following error message:
"mdadm[2691] segfault at 4 eip 61751 esp bfab4e90 error 4" The whole booting process must be analyzed taking into consideration all possible combinations of degraded arrays or changing hardware configurations like aditional or missing drives, usb sticks etc. and the booting sequence including udev rules need thorough rework. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Mdadm segfault on booting Hardy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/252485 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
