just to add i have this attachment i was trying to send in $HOME/Documents/
not in temporary folder

** Description changed:

  After a few tests, it seems that thunderbird won't send an attachment using 
the OpenOffice UNO-Service com.sun.star.system.SimpleCommandMail when there is 
an non-ASCII charakter (german umlaut) in the path of the attachment location.
  Using the built-in OO-function "send email as pdf" everthing works fine (as 
the attachement is saved in /tmp without any special characters).
  Surprisingly thunderbird has no problem with files in folders with special 
characters that are attached to manual created emails (not using openoffice).
