Lets see. This problem has existed in Hardy since the first Alpha. It is still not fixed. Reading and burning DVD media is unreliable in Ubuntu Hardy. That is a fact. I don't think it will be fixed in Hardy. I think they are waiting to see if its fixed upstream or in Ibex. I dont think the ability to read or burn DVDs is a priority for the Ubuntu people. I guess once you can browse the web then it works good enough. But hey its free and u didnt have to pay for it so why complain? I for one will not install Ubuntu Hardy on ANY more customers PCs until this FUNDAMENTAL problem is fixed. I am installing PClinuxOS which works fine. And have installed it on 23 PCs so far none exhibit this problem. So I will keep doing that until the Ubuntu people decide to make this problem,.. (a problem that has existed for several months), a priority.
