Public bug reported: I am using Ubuntu 8.04.1 with 2.6.24-19-generic kernel (32 bit). If I shutdown my computer from ubuntu properly, it turns automatically on at exactly 12:30 AM.
At first I thought it is a BIOS related problem, but then I found out that computer automatically turns on ONLY IF it was PROPERLY shut down from ubuntu. If it was shut down from windows or by force, computer doesn't turn on. I've disabled all wake-up events in BIOS, but the problem persists. The only way to keep my computer turned off is to shut it down from windows or to unplug the power cable. A friend of mine said he has the very same problem, but on only one of his computers (and the time of turning on is different: in his case it is 9 AM). We've found out that both his and my computer have the same motherboard: MSI 865PE Neo2. I've provided the output of dmidecode and I think this may be a kernel related problem. This wasn't happening on gutsy, and I'm not sure if this started to happen right after install of hardy, or after some updates. Now I'll try to install and boot the oldest kernel in repository and I'll keep you notified if the computer will turn on automatically after shutting down the computer properly using the oldest kernel in repository. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: automatically shutdown ubuntu -- Computer automatically turns on after proper shutdown from ubuntu https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/253629 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
