Something else I noticed about this bug. After designer-qt3 crashes the
xserver, if I do a CTL+ALT+F1 to get to the text mode console, I'm no
longer able to use the console because the monitor appears to be out of
sync like when the refresh rate isn't set correctly. But even with the
console out of sync, the screen with the login prompt (ALT+F7) is still
readable and in sync. In order to get the text mode console back into
sync, I must reboot the computer.

Here are some messages from my syslog which I believe are thrown by this crash.
Aug 2 18:29:29 kubuntu kernel: [ 335.822159] Xorg[5874]: segfault at 000001a4
eip 0818faaa esp bfef5860 error 4
Aug 2 18:29:29 kubuntu kdm[4934]: X server terminated: [0, 0, 0]
Aug 2 18:29:29 kubuntu kdm[4934]: X server for display :0 terminated
unexpectedly

Any workarounds for this bug?
