I see the same problem on my desktop PC which also has an Asus motherboard with built-in wifi.
The connection works fine when I am browsing the net or printing from another PC (the desktop is a print server) but as soon as I start streaming music from another device on the network the wireless crashes. I have tried to restrict the rate using iwconfig but that has no effect and I have also tried writing a script that tests for network connectivity and does a modprobe -r on failure - but that has mixed results, sometimes locking up completly and sometimes proving innefective - both cases requiring a re-boot to get back the network. The problem does seem to occur most when uploading data at a high data- rate, as streaming off the server over the internet doesn't crash it as much and I have seen streaming work fine when the network is in heavy use from other devices. -- rtl8187 drops connection https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/182473 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
