Public bug reported: Binary package hint: linux-restricted-modules-2.6.26-5-generic
linux-restricted-modules-2.6.26-5-generic does not contain the Atheros drivers. My PCMCIA wifi card, which used to work before doesn't work anymore because of this. iwconfig doesn't even see it. linux-restricted-modules-2.6.24-16-generic does contain the needed driver: /lib/modules/2.6.24-16-generic/madwifi/ath_pci.ko $apt-cache policy linux-restricted-modules-2.6.26-5-generic linux-restricted-modules-2.6.26-5-generic: Installed: 2.6.26-5.11 Candidate: 2.6.26-5.11 Version table: *** 2.6.26-5.11 0 500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com intrepid/restricted Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status Here's some output using the old working 2.6.24-16 kernel: ============================================================ lshw: *-network description: Wireless interface product: AR5212/AR5213 Multiprotocol MAC/baseband processor vendor: Atheros Communications Inc. physical id: 0 bus info: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:02:00.0 logical name: wifi0 version: 01 serial: 00:14:78:8f:8b:39 width: 32 bits clock: 33MHz capabilities: bus_master cap_list logical ethernet physical wireless configuration: broadcast=yes driver=ath_pci ip=192.168.2.101 latency=168 maxlatency=28 mingnt=10 module=ath_pci multicast=yes wireless=IEEE 802.11g lspci -v: 02:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications Inc.
