The kernel running is "Linux david-laptop 2.6.26-5-generic #1 SMP Sun
Aug 3 01:25:54 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux" but I can not for sure say the
problem is kernel related. The network manager should appear in Gnome
whether or not the kernel driver is working properly, so let's start by
pointing out the missing icon. I noticed the package was updated
"2008-08-07 09:48:56 status installed network-manager-gnome
0.6.6-0ubuntu3", so let's start here. How can I debug this package and
find out why it is not working?

** Changed in: network-manager-applet (Ubuntu)
Sourcepackagename: linux => network-manager-applet
