Public bug reported: Binary package hint: libasound2
I found out, that 5.1 surround sound from my audio card is somehow weird. Using "speaker-test -D plug:surround51 -c 6 -t wav" I came to a conclusion, that it's like the yellow and black jacks in my soundcard are swapped. But they aren't. speaker-test probing 4.0 sound was ok - so this is another proof. Finally I found two configuration files: (1) /usr/share/alsa/cards/ICH.conf (2) /usr/share/alsa/cards/ICH4.conf The first file concerns ICH, ICH2 and ICH3 chipsets. In ICH.pcm.surround51.0 section the channels are remapped. It virtually swaps the yellow and black jack. The second one concerns ICH4, ICH5 and ICH6. But there is no channel remapping. I added it and it works! Is there anyone with newer ICHs with the same problem? 00:1f.5 Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corporation 82801EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) AC'97 Audio Controller (rev 02) Ubuntu 8.04.1 libasound2 version 1.0.15-3ubuntu4 ** Affects: alsa-lib (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- incorrect channel mapping for surround 5.1 on ICH5 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/257027 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
