Thanks for the links. I believe the package should be casper (rather than linux as we don't get that far). The version of Hardy was downloaded yesterday so the kernel version would be 2.6.24-19-generic (I'm wating to find out whether it was 32 or 64 bit). This has also occurred on the -16 kernel. PC specs can be found here: http://support.apple.com/kb/SP37 Next question is how do we get to a prompt to enter the commands? (especially seeing the Live CD doesn't fully run and the screen doesn't even get to the 'try before you install' display?) Is there a way of booting from a Live CD straight to a prompt ? Also will we be able to pipe the info to a file and if so what commands will be needed to mount a floppy disk or hard disk ? Thanks. Kevin.
