Had the same problem here. Ran a combination of Frodon's and Christopher Armstrong's scripts:
sudo update-initramfs -u -k 2.6.17-10-generic sudo update-grub sudo aptitude reinstall linux-restricted-modules-2.6.17-10-generic Now everything seems to be running fine.
