I need to qualify my previous edit about Hibernate working fine on my HP
nc8000 laptop. The laptop only goes into Hibernate if the screen lid is
left open. But if the laptop is on and idle and the screen lid is
closed, after the specified time (in Power Management) of inactivity
passes, the laptop does not go into Hibernate. It just remains on. When
I open the screen lid, the password screen is there, as if it just woke
up after a Hibernate, except it didn't go into Hibernate because the
power LED remained constantly on. I can also confirm the 100%
reproduceability of the Suspend problem i.e., always goes into Suspend
fine but then always can not wake up after.
