I can confirm this problem as well. USB scanner device `sm3840:libusb:001:004' is a Microtek ScanMaker 4800 flatbed scanner
I was using an HP Laserjet 1200 printer via parallel port. sane-find- scanner worked but everything else would hang. Turning off the printer or changing it to use USB is only a work-around. That isn't a good solution to the problem since not all printers have USB. My guess would be we need a way to disable sane from looking for scanners on LPT port(s). ii libsane 1.0.19-1ubuntu API library for scanners ii sane 1.0.14-5 scanner graphical frontends ii xsane 0.995-1ubuntu1 featureful graphical frontend for SANE (Scan ii libsane-extras 1.0.18.12ubuntu1 API library for scanners -- extra backends -- xsane hangs https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/109530 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
