Also, I'm not sure if you'd be interested or even willing to test, but the latest Alpha for the upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 is available for testing - http://www.ubuntu.com/testing . It contains an updated 2.6.26 kernel. If you'd be willing to test this newer kernel it might be helpful to know if this will remain an issue with the upcoming release.
