I understand you point of view also played with that idea for myself,
but one of the following two scenarios are not logical:

1) when double clicking the notification symbol (and not having a open
update manager window) the update manager opens two windows.

2) after opening one instance of the update manager and than clicking on
the notification symbol does not open another update manager window.

As I see it one of these scenaria should be altered.


post scriptum,
I also noticed after double clicking the notification symbol that both update 
magers showed the same update to execute. Does this mean they both connect to 
the server or do they use the same temporary container for storing this 
information?
