Public bug reported:

I used ubuntu 6.10 alternative CD to boot my Dell 640m, trying to
install a new and clean ubuntu. The message "time-of-day clock stopped"
was displayed. I took out the battery for a few minutes and put it back,
and then I can boot my PC.

** Affects: Ubuntu
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Unconfirmed
