The bug description states that this bug is fixed in amsn cvs, which means the fix should have made it into Feisty. I can confirm there is no issue with Hardy. Marking as fixed.
Bug 243722 has also appeared in regards to a newer protocol issue, so amsn 0.95-1ubuntu0.1 should fix protocol issues on Dapper.
