Thanks for the info, time and effort. In the meantime I have solved the
problem by removing the "/etc/apt/sources.list" file, and let it be
recreated. The problem, I suppose, was when I added a couple of new repos to
the list with mistakes. I have added those that later thru software sources
and the problem disappeared.
