Gedas, if you are still experiencing issues with the most recent Hardy Heron 8.04 release, please test if this is still an issue with the latest Alpha for the upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10. You should be able to test via a LiveCD - http://www.ubuntu.com/testing.
