The problem of flash-animation not playing in firefox after upgrade to Edgy seems related to some conflict between packages. I solved it following the hints given in
http://forum.ubuntu-fr.org/viewtopic.php?pid=526816 I removed all flash-related packages: sudo apt-get --purge remove libswfdec0.3 sudo apt-get --purge remove libflash-mozplugin sudo apt-get --purge remove libflash0c2 sudo apt-get --purge remove gstreamer0.8-swfdec sudo apt-get --purge remove flashplugin-nonfree sudo apt-get --purge remove libflash-mozplugin and installed Flash Player 9 for Linux: BETA from the Adobe site.
