Just thought I'd mention that, much to my surprise, this same bug manifested in a fresh Hardy install (well, it was reusing existing partitions, including some non-root LVM ones). Is this thing ever going to be fixed? How about just getting the workaround installed so people aren't faced with a needlessly unbootable system?
