Hi Leann - Sorry for not adding a comment earlier, but my old Northwood PC failed in the heatwave of a month ago and I am still configuring its E4700 replacement, together with a 24" wide-screen replacement for the PC's also ailing Viewsonic 20" display.
I had found that kernel 2.6.24-19-generic had fixed problems reported by this bug report, especially when freshly installed using the LiveDVD rather than the LiveCD for 8.04.1 As a member of the MicroMart forum, I can report a definite pattern of Updates from earlier versions of Ubuntu to 8.04.1 or from early versions of 8.04 itself having problems that have then been fixed by fresh installs solely based on the 2.6.24-19-generic kernel. So, please close this Bug Report.
