Public bug reported:

i have just installed the alpha 4 of intrepid ibex, and i have run into
some problems, according to the system there are 212 updates available,
as well as the restricted driver for my graphics card, and i cant
install any of them.

i have tried clicking the system tray icon (adept icon) i have tried
going to manage packages using the menu and i have also tried running
adept_manager in terminal (konsole) and each time i get the same result,
basically it starts up, and then closes before i can do anything, i dont
get an error message, and if i run sudo adept_manager in a terminal i
get the following output.

" kapture::PkgSystem::PkgSystem()
Error: "/var/tmp/kdecache-username" is owned by uid 1000 instead of uid 0.
adduser
debconf
sysklogd
snort-mysql
oinkmaster

KCrash: Application 'adept_manager' crashing...
KCrash cannot reach kdeinit, launching directly. "

the reason im trying the alpha of intrepid is because of an issue i have
with bluetooth locking the system up in hardy, i was advised to try the
new kernels, which i did, and promptly broke my machine, so i thought id
try and alpha and see what happened, and this is the result.

i cant use the add/remove option either as it does the same, that being
it will load and then close almost straight away.

apologies if i have placed this in the wrong place by the way.

my system is - amd athalon 5200 + x2 @ 2.59ghz
nvidia 8600 gt pci express card
mainboard is an ecs nforce board (i forget the exact specs of it, but if needed
ill have a look)
sound card is a sound blaster audigy (24bit)
500gb samsung sata drive which i use kubuntu on and an 80gb western digital
sata which i have xp on (for playing games on, currently playing bioshock, x3 -
reunion, halflife orange box, track mania nations)

cheers.
