Thank you very much Leann for your efforts. The wireless network was working and is still working after the latest kernel-upgrade. (Most likely the driver I compiled a month or three ago is still valid?)
I'm working with kernel uname -r -> 2.6.24-19-generic and installed the backport-modules dpkg -l | grep backport ii linux-backports-modules-2.6.24-19-generic 2.6.24-19.17 Ubuntu supplied Linux modules for version 2. ii linux-backports-modules-hardy-generic 2.6.24.19.21 Backported drivers for generic kernel image dpkg -s linux-backports-modules-hardy-generic Package: linux-backports-modules-hardy-generic Status: install ok installed Priority: optional Section: devel Installed-Size: 52 Maintainer: Ubuntu Kernel Team <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Architecture: i386 Source: linux-meta Version: 2.6.24.19.21 Depends: linux-backports-modules-2.6.24-19-generic Description: Backported drivers for generic kernel image This empty package allows people to keep their backported modules up-to-date when upgrading their Linux kernel. --- At powerup (Dmesg) [ 41.675176] rt2570: init [ 41.675263] rt2570: idVendor = 0xb05, idProduct = 0x1706 [ 43.630354] rt2570: using permanent MAC addr [ 43.630366] rt2570: Active MAC addr: 00:11:d8:8e:79:2d. I will certainly test the newer kernel 2.6.27 (if it comes available by the regular updates ... ). I'll cross my fingers! (but before updating, I'll will download the latest driver from serial-monkey (I'll will only compile and install this driver, in case the one supplied by the backport-modules should fail). -- Wireless fails on ver 8.04 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/236509 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
