Leann, The bug is still present in the 2.6.27 kernel. I tested it using a fresh install from the 20080829 amd64 desktop daily-live. I expect it is present in 2.6.26 also, but have not specifically tested.
There has been absolutely no movement on the bug reported to the ALSA project, and I do not expect this bug will be resolved until they address it.
