I have the same problem with Firefox and Audacious. It seems to happen
somewhat randomly if I stop play in audacious while Firefox is open.

Thing is, it's not that audacious is playing the song but I can't hear
anything, it actually wont play the song. It hangs trying to access it
until I I close Firefox completely, and preview any song by hovering my
cursor over it. Immediately, audacious will stop hanging and play the
song it was trying to play.

On the other hand, if audacious is playing and I try to watch a flash
video in Firefox, Firefox will play it without sound most of the time.
Sometimes, though, the video will hang every 5 seconds until I tell it
to play again, still without sound, until I close audacious, even if
audacious isn't currently playing anything.

I was thinking it might be a soundcard channel issue, because I'm using
my cheapo nvidia motherboard sound, which probably doesn't have many
channels. The original poster also seems to be using his mobo sound.

Anybody else?
