See my answer here: http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11416#c3 In short: max_cstate=2 works fine on the first look but re-introduce random system freezes which were avoided by booting with "noapic". Maybe SOMEONE ELSE THAN ME could find out more or even different results ;-)
