You have been subscribed to a public bug by Jamie Strandboge (jdstrand): Although I don not know it, my package guess is kmilo in this case: 4:3.5.9-0ubuntu3 . My xorg-package is: 1:7.3+10ubuntu10.2
Running on kubuntu Hardy Heron KDE 3.5.9 and 4.1 Xorg crashes completly after using this key combination. The bug is not new. Using the keys leads to a black screen that can not be turned on again. Switching to console etc. has not effect. The screen is completly off. The effect is equal to a fattal crash, as only turning off the computer will restart the monitor. There is no healthy shut down possibility. <Ctrl>+<Alt>+<Del> doesn't work any more. Neither <Ctrl>+<Alt>+<Back>. So it seems that the system is crashed also. Sounds and LED lights sometimes show some kind of activity but no communication with the system is possible. Only pressing the power button/plugging out can help. <F8> is also a dangerous key as it is near <F7> which would just turn the LCD black. Ofcourse due to the comletness of the crash there is no kde bug track back possible. Please tell me if and which logfiles might be of some interest. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- <Fn>+<F8> (external monitor switch) crashes hardware/system on laptop Asus M2N https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/260821 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
